In the place where you live, are people still buying D.V.D.'s and B.R.D.'s (Blue Ray Discs) or the sales are in decline in more developed countries too?

The question is about the overall decline in sales of physical media, as compared to streaming.

I just bought four good VHS tapes. CBS news documentaries, on WW2, the big one, per A.Bunker. I never seen the quality of recording on those tapes. They really have some great recording equipment. It looked like when it was originally broadcast. 25 cents each.

Were they from the WW2 with Walter Cronkite series? If so, there are 11 more tapes to that series.

I never buy them anymore. I don't like buying movies, I enjoyed renting them but I find buying them lands me with a collection of movies I've already seen. There's too much content out there to watch the same movies again and again, it's not like having a music collection. I really think Netflix sucks compared to a good video store, I have had way less access to interesting movies since the last one closed up.

I still buy discs, mostly Bluray and only if it's something special like the complete series of TV shows, Classic Disney and MST3K. that may never be on Netflix or classic films that will never show up on TV.

Streaming is great, I use it exclusively for my TV watching now, but physical media is nice because it's always there, Streaming depends on things outside of your control.

I buy DVDs BDs and/or CDs several times a month, quite a bit more than the vast majority of folks nowadays.

Got a BD on the way tomorrow: "Live in Colombia [Blu-ray] Alan Parsons Symphonic Project", should be a good show!

There is a 4K version of blu ray. So they are still being made.

I can't speak for everyone around these parts. I am certainly still buying DVDs.

Despite having some working Blu-Ray players (two from the curb, working when found and still going) I haven't warmed up to that format. Most of my watching takes place on the computer.

I don't have any interest whatsoever in streaming or subscribing to a streaming service. And you don't find previously enjoyed streaming service subscriptions lying around in thrift stores.

My household does not subscribe to cable or satellite TV, nor do we subscribe to any streaming services.
My public library is still adding recent movie DVDs all the time, so my parents borrow them regularly. Cost: $0. Can't beat that.

Yes. In rural GA, not everybody has real hi speed internet. BRDs and DVDs still sell here.

Every weekend, being a flea market hound it's hard to resist when DVDs are usually only a dollar each nowdays. Can sometimes grab BDs for two or three at affairs like that too.
