super cheap ebay ceramic cartridges

Well it sure LOOKS like a ceramic cartridge.

Anyone ever try one of these?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1PC-Turntabl...0AAOSwu-BWPCWR

Looks ideal for fixing the old kiddie players, etc.

Thats the one they use on all those cheap Crosley players. They are also used to restore the old RCA 45 players. The Voice of Music website sells them also.

They're not bad actually, .7 mil stylus only and .5 volts output so they won't work well in single stage amplifiers, but in something with some decent output that used Ceramic to start with they sound good.

They are probably the only good part on those Crosleys.

Yeah that one even has a diamond stylus and a metal cantilever - for two dollars shipped from China! I may order, say, five of them and be all set for future repairs!

I believe you can get a 78 stylus for them. - Check the Voice of music website. many of those Crosley players do include the 78 speed.

The only issue is that these don't look to come with the 1/2" mounting bracket. The VM site has them with the bracket.

They have the 78 speed but not the proper stylus.
I was just trying to find a cheap replacement cartridge for a few phonos in my possession.
Digging deep in the archives.
BTW, see you Sunday, January 21, 2018.

I've used them in the RCA 45rpm players and a couple of Ristaucrat phonos. They work great. Mounted them with foam tape rather than pay extra for the ones with the 1/2" mounts.

See both of you this Sunday!

I've installed one in a philco front loading 78 player, and the results were very good with the default LP styli. I suspect they tapered them so the sides meet the 78 groove before the tip hits bottom.
