It lives!
Greetings! My roundie lives on!
Yesterday, after an a couple months of careful work, gradual voltage, and crossed fingers, the CTC-11 ran producing a pretty decent picture! Months of work consisted of; replacement of all maroon-drops, orange drops, one bumble-bee, about 10 ‘out of tolerance’ resistors in the IF and sound circuits, used a forstner bit to drill out and re-stuff the electrolytics (that's some rude gunk), and about 5000 q-tips to detail clean the circuit boards and chassis – it lives. The CRT appears to have been re-built sometime in its life, but the rare-earth phosphor remains and without any work produces a respectable picture. Upon first application of power, it ran for about a minute and the dim picture faded to nothing. After replacing a “good” 12BY7 (video) I saw a stable and much brighter picture. Still some homework to do before any time get’s logged: learning to adjust cathode current, HV, and all the usual purity & convergence crap! Thanks to all those who‘ve advised me along the way! Nice restoration! I like that style of cabnet, compact, real wood and in good shape.

Congradulations!
That set seems to have a very good picture. Using a drill is not a good way to go on lytic rebuilding. A good way is to pry up the lip of the can, pry out the treminal wafers, and use a cork screw to pull the rest of the guts out. I know the last part sounds wierd, and takes a some arm strength to do, but it works quite well.

Nice work there, Bill. Makes me want to get my butt in gear and get mine going.
Could not help but notice a very attractive color RCA sign peeking around the left side of your 11. |

Omedetou gozaimasu! CTC- jyu-ichi ga daisuki da yo! Kyabinetsuto ga utsukushii desu!
(Congratulations! I love that CTC 11! It has a beautiful cabinet!) The 11 is on my must have list but haven't found a nice enough one for the price yet. I know,I know, what the hell is with the Japanese. Gomennasai, (sorry) I'm just bored and wanted to use it. Bored is Taikutsu shiteimasu, BTW.... :3
