On top of that, if you have alligator clip leads or test leads, I like to connect one end to the test points before I power up the set so there's less danger of a slip-up with the probe- it's just clipping and unclipping the other end(s) safely away from the main part of the set.
Also, on top of the one-hand-in-the pocket rule: if you have electrically insulating rubber gloves, put on one (or both, if you can work with them) just in case you forget and do take that hand out of your pocket.
