My new Alarm Clock TV
I recently purchased a Sanyo 3T-57 Alarm Clock on eBay, and have been cleaning it up for use in my office. It has a fairly sharp picture and after adjusting the internal pots to resize the screen, works nicely with my Roku.
Does anyone know much about this set, as far as general quality or possible trouble points to keep an eye on? Thanks |

That is very cool find. But you would need a lot of room on a night stand back in the day to have that TV/clock/radio made by Sharp. I'm no expert but if you had to just the pots to resize the picture tells me caps are going bad do to old age. I expect its from the 70s and if I'm right I would check the caps and replace any that are bad or just recap the whole thing.

I would agree that the capacitors are probably going south. I had to go in again and back off some of the changes that I made, since it was losing vertical hold whenever there was a totally black screen. I might see about recapping it at some point, but it is working fairly decently right now.

Man that thing is awesome! If your lucky, some of the caps may have "reformed" if you were able to back off some changes.

I briefly had a Philco alarm clock radio/tv. Bought it for the novelty and because it was cheap, and I think I resold it.... that or I REALLY burried it in my hoard.
