I Got an RCA 56X, where to get combination cap?
Its shaped like a long tube, about an inch in diameter. Has 3 leads; a black, red, and green. The Red Lead is 30uf and the Green Lead is 50uf at 150VDC. Its in an axial configuration with the black lead on one end and the red and green on the other.
Does anyone make something like this or do I have to use a radial can type and make it work? Also, any info on the net about polishing the bakelight case? Last edited by MCS Guy; 01-29-2005 at 02:31 PM. |

Hi,
You could replace the tube with individual caps. Use a 33uF 160V cap for the 30uF section and a 47uF 160V cap for the 50uF section. If you want to try to retain the original look you could either gut and restuff the original or you can buy a reproduction from Bill Turner: http://www.dialcover.com/caps.html

ok, If I gut the original, how would I go about doing it? Would I buy polar caps and wire the negative leads together?

Yep, negatives go to a common point, usually just directly to the can.
