TV Test Equipment!

http://asheville.craigslist.org/ele/1891469333.html

I found this on Craiglist recently. There's several different devices listed here, but I wasn't sure if these were worth a look or not. Myself, I could use a good tube tester and maybe a scope, at the very least.

A B&K 1077 television analyst is really nice to have when working on vintage TVs.

I got the B&K 1077, all 3 scopes, the cap checker, a CRT tester, a dot-bar generator, and a tube checker from him. He got it all from a friend of mines father who was, and I didnt know it, a TV repairman from 1955 thru 1989.

The test pattern slide is damaged on the 1077. I hope to find another somewhere.

Bruce

PS: Turns out that the guy that listed the Craigslist ad lives about 8 streets away from me.

The best scope is the RCA. The Heathkit scope has blown caps. I've recapped the cap checker and its working fine.

Also got the little Philco radio here. It has a fried power transformer.

You can make a new test pattern with a printer and clear transparency stock. I think Eric H posted a nice hi-res scan not too long ago.

Hmmm. Thats good to know. The slide I have has been handled roughly and is smeared pretty badly.

After bringing the 1077 up on the variac, it is behaving pretty nicely.

I went back to the sellers house yesterday and got the manuals for nearly everything that I bought from him, and got lucky and found all of the probes that went with everything. Then, I got the RCA marker-generator and its cables, and the owners books. We even found an update book for the Heathkit TC-1, and TC-2 tube checkers. I have an old TC-1 that I've had since the early 1960's, and this TC-2 is exactly the same, but looks a bit newer. Now, I can test stuff like 2A3's, and 42's!!

I replaced 6 electrolytics in the Heathkit scope. It's running now. I still like the RCA better. I replaced a single electrolytic in the solid state scope, and it runs, but not particularly well. Donated it to the thrift store along with the correct probe. They got $40 for it.
