Got an Innerestin' Gimme...

A very nice little elderly lady gave me a neat transistor set ystrday-an Olympic model # 666. I bet it might work-If I could find some semblence to the correct battery-Sez a Ray-O-Vac 1600., 9 volt. But apparently this radio is OLD, because it shows the battery as about the same size as a "C" cell w/a "+" terminal on one end, & the "-" terminal on the other, rather than side-by-side as 9Vs are now. Any Ideers ?

I think this is the one... picture#1

Aka RCA VS300.

Sorry about the crummy pix... I did not want to scan the fragile book.

My wife's first transistor radio (RCA 7-BT-9J) uses such a cell... I just made a little "jumper" and use a standard 9V alkaline battery, with a little foam around it so it won't rattle. The smaller alkaline batteries available today last much longer than the original battery did.

Yeah, this 'un kinda looks like a cheap Japanese knock-off of that set,,,Less intricate cabinet, but looks to be similar size, I'd wager. It's in a leather carrying-case, & even if it don't work, it'll display well.

That's a 226 battery, one of those on my "to-do" list.
