HPW17E Monitor

This monitor works for 10 seconds, and then goes dark. You can see what's on the screen it's just very dark. Turn it off and on, and it works for another 10 seconds, then off again. I took it apart and one of the wires going to the LCD was very hot,(melted). It was in a connector, so I took the wire and soldered it , that stopped the melting , but it stills goes dark.
Thanks, Rickey
