Loud Static! the only way you can know that it is a digital signal and not background noise is that it read around 100 microvolts above background noise, had a fairly flat bandwidth of around 6 Mhz and was a directional signal while rotating the antenna. One of the weird things that is done during transmission is the the bits are pseudo randomized so there is a complete usage of the channel band with a equal distribution of energy. Whew my mind and fingers are tired from that concept.
