Excited- Picking up a porthole tomorrow (oh, and hello!)

Hello!

What a great site you have here!

I have been into vintage electronics for a while now, but old TVs never really interested me. But my wife wanted an old one as a decoration for her 50s-style dining room. She didn't care if it worked. So we were scouring craigslist for months. I became more interested the more beautiful old TVs I saw... I finally found a deal- a Zenith porthole floor model. I don't know the model. All I know is that it doesn't work, but it looks nice, and the previous owner just used it for a decoration. He wants $50 obo for it, and from the looks of things, that seems pretty reasonable. He says all the "guts" are there, but he's never plugged it in, since the previous owner said it didn't work.

I want to try to restore it. I figure if I can, great, if not, she still gets her decoration. I look forward to your support in my endeavour to fix this gem. I have a lot of modern electronics repair experience, but I have never worked on a tube machine. I look forward to the challenge. I am pretty psyched to go get this thing tomorrow!
