You have to be careful taking it apart. If you open it, there needs to be at least
one splice with the metallic channel changer tape. Keep in mind the tape is one length, and pulling on the supply side (center) the takeup side has to wind it back.... Once it's apart it's easier to see how it works.... I bet wikipedia has it... .
