Sony KV-1510 cataract
Wow. So this is now the second time I have seen anything like this. My KV-1510 has PVA rot.
Anyone else? This set has econoquick. This unit was also manufactured without the econoquick as well with same model number so mine must be a late '75 or '76 model.

I’ve never seen a Sony crt with a cataract. I believe econoquick came out in 1974/1975 model year.

I also found out that the KV-1510 was a long production run.. From 1972-1975. I have seen early ones that dont say econoquick. mine does. Also later ones had the econoquick embossed into the solid state logo above, (see pic) Mine was an add on decal above the VHF tuner, where early units didn't have anything there. Maybe the first implementation of econoquick. 1974-75.

And this one is probably a 1972-1974. No econoquick. same model. And no cataract. must be something within the conditions it was housed. Maybe humidity?

Looks like fungus to me. I've seen a pic of the 19" tv/betamax console posted somewhere which had a yellow cataract forming. The $50,000,000 question is how would one separate the safety glass from this to fix it?

I'm checking all my Sonys today. We have lots of humidity here.
