Try this
with the radio on unplug the last IF tube (2nd IF ??) then
plug it back in right away. It should make lots of noise. If not
check around the detector tube. If it makes a lot of noise
do the same with the 1st IF.
Tube checkers can lie to you. A tube can be bad & check good. And visa versa.
After that take voltage against the schematic.

Do I understand you right?

Low reception on AM & FM?

After interchanging the filter caps you have to re-align the set (IF-transformers)!
What kind of caps you inserted?
Did you checked the required voltages?

Show us pictures of what you have changed, please.

All there is filter cap wise is 2 40 MFD 375 MFD filter caps, which I replaced with a two Section Fischer and Tausche (F & T) 50 MFD 500 VDC capacitor, and I had never heard of needing to realign a radio after replacing filter caps, the only time I've heard of realigning a radio was if you replaced critical tuner and or IF related capacitors, which Power Supply Filter caps have nothing to do with the tuner or IF circuits.

Sorry, missunderstanding.
Because you talk about "filter" I mean you talk about IF-filters in filter cans, @ german: Filterbecher
These are of course very critical.

Happy weekend,

I would like to know how hard it is to replace the old filter caps in these old Telefunkens and how good of a performer will this radio be once its recapped?

Also where did this radio fall in the model heirarchy?

Thanks for your help with this radio.
The term "Gavotte" is used in the lyrics of the song, "You're so Vain".
I looked it up in the dictionary!
I have a few German sets.
The selector switches are crumbling from using the wrong contact cleaner.

A Gavotte is an old German Dance, Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart, Haydn, etc. all wrote Gavottes for various different instrument combinations including Solo Piano, Chamber Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, etc.

I believe that Telefunken named all of their radios, stereos, hi-fi sets etc. after musical terms.

I figured out what was going on with my radio, its a combination of dirty switch contacts, and weak tubes, the tube that was the most responsible for the poor reception/performance was the ECH81 which I unfortunately don't have a spare of.
