Try this
with the radio on unplug the last IF tube (2nd IF ??) then plug it back in right away. It should make lots of noise. If not check around the detector tube. If it makes a lot of noise do the same with the 1st IF. Tube checkers can lie to you. A tube can be bad & check good. And visa versa. After that take voltage against the schematic. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |

Do I understand you right?
Low reception on AM & FM? After interchanging the filter caps you have to re-align the set (IF-transformers)! What kind of caps you inserted? Did you checked the required voltages? Show us pictures of what you have changed, please. Regards, SIXMILLION DOLLARMAN

Because you talk about "filter" I mean you talk about IF-filters in filter cans, @ german: Filterbecher These are of course very critical. Happy weekend, TV-collector

I looked it up in the dictionary! I have a few German sets. The selector switches are crumbling from using the wrong contact cleaner. |

I believe that Telefunken named all of their radios, stereos, hi-fi sets etc. after musical terms. I figured out what was going on with my radio, its a combination of dirty switch contacts, and weak tubes, the tube that was the most responsible for the poor reception/performance was the ECH81 which I unfortunately don't have a spare of. |
