Heathkit GR-295

I bought this at an Estate sale a while back, last time I saw one of the 295's was in '78!

My brother-in-law's father built one of those; they watched the moon landing on it in 1969 ... unfortunately gutted it years ago. Only thing left is the tuner.

That's really a nice looking set, good picture too! Can we see some chassis pictures, when you have the time? Good job!

I will Dave! As soon as I get a better potato camera.. LOL!

I have been using a cheapie tablet for the pics.. Once I get a few more repairs done for customers, I will get a good quality digital camera.

My brother I think still has the wooden cabinet from one of these sets, he probably would be happy to give it to someone who'd come to his place in northern NJ to take it off his hands.

Many examples of photos taken with the X20 can be seen in Robb's posts in the estate and garage sale finds thread. The camera has a nice retro look too.

Don't sell those tablet cameras short; some of them are very good for what they are. My Dopo (Double Power Industries, Ontario, California) 7" Internet tablet has a 1.3-mp front-facing camera that takes very good pictures. I'm using a little better camera app than the one that comes with the tablet (one I downloaded from the Google Play Store), though. However, mine takes very sharp and clear pictures, and I like it. The only thing I don't like about it is there is no viewfinder, so I have to fiddle around a bit to find the object I'm trying to photograph. If the tablet had both front- and rear-facing cameras, however (it doesn't), my problems would be solved; I could use the tablet screen as the viewfinder in that case.

I wonder whose circuits Heathkit modified? Did they get to cherry-pick the best of each like American Motors* did in thier cars?

I haven't seen one of those Stewart-Warners in ages. There was a few of those around.

Great observation. I have never seen one before and this is one great example.

According to Allpar website, when AMC approached the various law enforcement agencies, They requested that AMC change their transmission suppliers, as they didn't care for Borg-Warner transmissions.
