Such a pity , so rare that even gassy it's worth $400 to a dedicated collector , could you imagine it's value if it were still holding vacuum and had three good guns ?

Say "Thank You" Ben, I just saved you $400.

We peeled back the plastic ultor ring insulator and it has some rust at the glass to ultor ring fusion. I suspect that over the years moisture probably caused some oxidation of the glass/metal bond and caused it to go gassy. I believe that this probably came from a set that was scrapped and the tube was saved at that time because it was probably still good.

Thank you Bob.

I don't have anything against you per se, I just didn't appreciate the response. My comment was directed at the Motorola sets in general, not yours in particular. I hadn't noticed Tom Carson's comment above mine, so I will admit to seeing why you might think that.

Anyway, this thread has run its course. Im inclined to just lock it so we can all move on, pending Tim's approval.

Just to properly bookend this, the 19VP22 is now at my storage facility in Flint, Michigan awaiting a potential rebuild in the (hopefully) not too terribly distant future.

The tube was found in a barn somewhere in western Michigan according to the seller. Provided a method of sealing these tubes can be developed, it may light up on the right end again someday.
