GE 12T3 restore

Question: The M1 & M2 selenium rectifiers were in bad shape so I replaced them with IN 4007's diodes. All I have from the Sam's is the current on the original rectifiers is .240 ADC. Are IN 4007's the correct diode for a replacement? thanks

Should be fine. They are rated at 1 Amp and 1000 peak inverse volts. For extra redundancy you can put 2 or three in series. That increases the reverse breakdown voltage and if one were to short the others still get the job done.

Exactly. At 60Hz (or 120Hz in some voltage multiplying rectifier circuits) the only diode specs that matter are the peak inverse voltage and current, and if your replacements are as good or higher rated they will do fine...Heck if no solar or nuclear EMPs occur in the next century they will probably outlast the seleniums.

Thanks!

I thought the diodes were fine but thanks for the confirmation!
