Linear slide resistor
Is there a way to replace a slide resistor starting at 100k and ends around 1 meg. Keeping the housing but just replacing the resistor strip. I don’t know if aquadag would give the ohms swing that I need, a little over an inch long and 1/8 wide kind of small.

.
These things are available, Type "Slide Variable Resistor" into google.com to begin your search. I had to replace a sub miniature slide resistor on a answering machine more than 10 years ago - they are available. Even if it is not the exact one, you can find something that will come close enough that you will have a reliable fix that might even allow it to be reassembled and look correct. It might take looking at a number of companies to figure out what brand made the original.... or comes real close, even if the pins don't fit the original holes. You might even try Google, or Bing Image Search, take a few "good" pictures and upload it. Also try image search for results and see if you get a better match there.... .

You're reminding me of a early 70s tube Panasonic I have where 2/3 sliders were wrecked giving no color and no sound, one pot the metal fingers broke off the plastic slide and I drilled and tapped the slide to reattach, the other slide was broken the same way but the fingers were completely missing....I was able to rob the slide portion of the pot from a similar vintage SS Panasonic that was beyond repair. With enough creativity you can often get around really goofy issues.

Anyone know who sells varicap diodes within the states ? Unless I could try 1n4007 diodes since there is a wide range of frequencies depending on the bias voltage applied in reverse which is what I would need it to do it would be for rf frequency changes in this little tv.
