Philco Mystery Control Demonstration
I've been working through a number of issues with my Philco 41-616 Radio/Phono Console for the past several years. I thought I had passed the final big hurdle late last Spring with the successful completion of the Beam of Light (BOL) phonograph pick up. I was all ready to put this Demo together last June only to realize that the Mystery Control System had drifted off frequency.
Finally now, after spending the past 5 months finishing off all of my "almost done" other projects, I had the time and inclination to go ahead and do the realignment on the Mystery Control RF section again. It worked out quite well and the system is now operating in top form. You'll see the Mystery Control demonstrated on the radio as well as on the BOL phonograph. Thanks so much! I've always wanted to see one in action. I only have the remote - no matching radio
Makes me wonder what Philco might have cooked up if the war hadn't interrupted consumer development. |

Don't you just love American ingenuity? They were cooking this up over sixty years ago. That was a LOT of work on your part to get this going again: I'm sure getting the Mystery Control circuits to work was like having a whole other radio to restore, except in uncharted waters. Thank you for the great demo.
