Two in one day!

Being as I use all older CRT sets, I have to rely on Digital convertors, such as Zenith/insignia and Digital Stream units. They seem to be the only ones that work reasonably well in this reception area.
Both refused to turn on or select another channel!
The only thing that goes wrong with these units is the 1000 mfd, 16 volt capacitor and I,m out of them.
The Magnavox/Funai units seem to use better quality caps and are more reliable, but only work with a better signal.

Do you have any junk equipment with the right caps? Used to be I would strip all the parts of any board I junked, and when one of my Zenith boxes died I stuck one of those used caps in to bring it back to life...It was faster than ordering new.

I've been doing that right along but I don't have access to my large collection of scrap boards. You know the reason!

Why not just send an order to DigiKey? 37 cents each if you buy 10.

Mail order: it will arrive in about two days.

Good point...I assumed you might keep some junk in the house too. I certainly would keep some parts items at home even if I had a shop/storage because you never know when something critical will go out at the worst possible time to travel (like say during a major blizzard)... Maybe I have a strange mentality about such things. Of course the spare for everything important mentality isn't helping me much. My main laptop melted down and my is higher spec spare of the same model will corrupt the HDD if I let windows update due to some hardware difference... I've been pulling my hair out for too long over this.

Where is Radio Shack when you need them!
I had a junk CD player that had a 2200mfd 16 volt cap, so I could finish the other one.

Things happen! I thought the battery fizzled out. I was almost ready to say goodby as it was time to hit the sack.
