Zenith console stereo with tubes (well, a few anyway)
Rescued this from outside a trash ben about 3 weeks ago. Oiled up the finish nicely and everything works. If i remember right, model number is MN2506. It has a few tubes but probably only 4 or 5. Says Solid State amplifier in cursive lettering. I'm just guessing at it being a 69, 70, or 71 model. Any ideas? Also as you can see, I'm missing the rubber turntable mat. Any idea where id find the right one for this?

"MN " Zenith model # means 1966...the LAST year hardly any of their stereos had tubes. For 1967...Nearly ALL of Zenith audio line was SS...save for some cheap record players and maybe table radios.

Would have never guessed. Sounds great though. This thing has 8 speakers. 3 smaller ones above a larger on each side. Everything works too. Now if i can just find the turntable mat. Probably won't be an easy task though.

Try the Voice of Music website (Gary Stork) he probably has the mat. Your unit has a VM made record changer.

FYI almost all Zenith TT's were made by VM ( Voice of Music).
For years the mechanical parts were interchangable. Cosmetic parts were "not" but often in reality were, just looked different. Needles & cartridges were mostly Zenith only. For the mat anything goes. There is a little button that is the 10" record sensor, if a mat has it its a VM & it should work. Too bad folks buying the Chicom Crosleys dont know about all the vintage record players that sound better & last longer. Even the cheap crap from back then is much better. At the fleas vinyl records are selling like hot cakes. Must be a market for quality old stuff............ 73 Zeno |

Congratulations on your rescue of an excellent Zenith stereo! I had one many years ago, same chassis and turntable, was a great sounding unit. The one I had was in a smaller Danish Modern style cabinet. That record changer is a VM, and you'll find Gary Stork to be friendly and helpful, too, I'm sure he has it, I live only about 4 miles from him. It's VM Audio Enthusiasts, Google it, and you'll find contact info. Best of luck with your restoration!
