Roundy in a motel room

Postcard for a motel with roundy consolette in room.

Can anyone identify the make?

The resolution in the postcard makes it difficult to be sure, but it looks like a metal cabinet variant of the single knob RCA my grandparents had when I was little. Above the knob was a slide rule UHF dial with cyan numbers.

I had posted a thread about this series a few months ago. We agreed it was a special markets set, but couldn't agree if it was a CTC-16, 17, or 20.

Oddly, I mentioned the set in you avatar as being like my grandpa's, only yours displays the channel behind smoked plastic instead of on a bare knob.

CTC-17 were rectangular screen sets...Neither this one or your grand fathers could possibly be a 17.

Probably a CTC-20, maybe a 16.

Many BW sets had that drum-style knob and slide rule UHF IIRC, 1965 models mostly.

That looks just like the CTC-16 I picked up at a garage sale last Sunday. I'll take a picture of it when I get home later today.

It's close, but it's not the same. It has the concentric vhf/uhf tuning knobs, but the channel number display is different. Mine's a CTC-16XL.

A friend had an RCA, like the one you just got, that came from a fancier suite in a hotel. The set was like three years old and didn't work, when he got it. It needed the HV tubes and it had an excellent picture when I repaired it.
They were probably refurnishing the suite and got rid of it because it didn't work.

Very cool to see that old postcard! I have occasionally stayed in older motels, that it's obvious, were built in the early to mid 1960's, some even earlier, and I have wondered, what TV they could have had in there when the places were new! Of course, when I was young, and our family stayed in these motels, I remember some that still had B+W Sets I them, even into the late 1960's. I remember we were in a motel in Copper Harbor, MI, in the Upper Peninsula, in 1969, when the Moon landing / walk was first aired, and we watched it on a 19" B+W table model TV, in the Motel Room! As I seem to recall, I believe it was an Admiral TV, in that motel, back then.

That's a CTC-16. I have the same one in the combo style. Tail end of the 16s.1966 The last decent series before the CTC-20
