Nick, Good luck on the tuner wire re-string
I just did the whole restring adventure on a Grundig console and it takes time, patience and way more patience. I got nylon strand center, braided outer non stretch cord from Antique Electronic Supply but I heard that fly fishing cord works well You have to have the diagram for sure |

Hi Nick and the others following this thread.
I appologise for butting in. I just picked up the same radio. A little searching brought me here to join VK. I was wondering if you had determined the glue type used on the cabinet. If it turns to be hide ,which I'd be surprised, or a pva type I'll try a bit of heat with an iron under cloth to put down a few checks on my case. Id appreciate any other info I can get as well I'll let you know if I learn anything. Steve |

I only just now noticed this thread had another reply.
I'm still not positive what sort of glue it is, but heat does work on it. IIRC it took somewhere around 275-300F from my heat gun to get it to soften. And those temps didn't seem to hurt the finish at all. |
