Don't have that manual but I looked in one I do have for a KDF-50E2000, and 3 red blinks equals "Lamp cover not securely attached" or "Lamp not inserted properly".

I can confirm that 3 blinks is lamp door error. I have seen a bunch of these with broken switches on the door. For my own set I might just short the switch and call it good. At least until the new switch arrived. P/N 1-786-591-11

Hmm..That may be the problem. I just installed a new XL2400 lamp assembly.Maybe its just not seated properly or the cover is not properly installed or I broke the darn switch trying to install it.

And it didn't even cost you anything extra!

What brand lamp did you get?

A friend of mine ordered a "Sony" lamp off of e-bay but it was an no-brand aftermarket lamp. Ad should have said "FOR Sony". Anyway he ended up sending that back, buying a Philips lamp-reflector only and reusing the lamp holder.

What happened was my friend ordered one on e-bay said "S0NY" not "for S0NY", and "Genuine".

A few days later he receives it as a "gift" from Amazon! The e-bay seller fulfilled the order with that same $35 lamp for only $50! My friend was already aware of the cheaper lamps on Amazon which is why he bought what he thought was genuine Sony issue, made by Philips.

Well, upon close examination of the picture of the box in the Amazon listing looks like it says "PHI/379S" and UPC # 56375 00133 .
