1986 Toshiba Black Stripe 14" Television

Hello everyone,

so for a while ive been looking for a cool vintage color tv to buy and i recently found one on ebay. i was just wondering if you guys could give me any information on what i got.

Pictured is the Toshiba Black stripe CX 1435 Television that i won. It was said to be in very very good shape. When i look at very similar models listed on ebay, they all wanted from $125-300 dollars. I won this for a total of $40 on bidding and it looks just as good as those sets. Are those people just asking way to much, or is this considered a classic or nice set? It sure looks cool which is why i bid on it, but if it is really anything special, you would think that it would have gotten more interest on eBay, and therefor went for more money than $40.

So overall what do you guys think of this series of Toshiba televisions? Did i get a steal, or are the prices for similar sets just inflated?

While I do not have one of these, I hear they are great sets. Congratulations.

There are many delusional people who see eBay as a gold mine. The same thing could turn up at a thrift store for 2 bucks. Anything other than pre-war B&W or early RCA color sets don't have a fixed price range. Collecting "worthless" things can be a good thing though, no one is going to break in to steal them. As long as you like it, that's all that really matters.

These were very good sets. IMHO most Toshibas were better than
any of the other Jap sets.
As far as price goes very few modern sets are worth anything
except to a collector or gamer. In fact in most places you have to
pay $10 to $30 to throw it away. Considering it was the top of
the line set I think you paid a fair price. Most on this list would
like to have one.
