Anyone know anything about this source for new crt's?

I can't imagine that there is active production of CRTs anywhere in the world, but then the Ruskies and Chinese never stopped building vacuum tubes so it is possible.
Perhaps the tubes are old stock from circa 2005-2010 or so? |

In today's world anything seems possible. Maybe if they do make tubes, the guys looking for the 15" crt's would have an outlet

Nick Williams and I have joked that if either one of us wins the lottery, really big we'll call up a Chinese company and have a run of 15HP22s built.

I'm not either lol
But then I doubt I'll hit the lotto... I'd be interested in what the total cost of a run of new 15GP22s or 15HP22s would even come out to... probably north of 50K just to get everything set up. And I'm sure the company would demand a run of some ungodly number that the collecting community could never possibly use. |

I recently inquired with a company in China about souring CRTs, of course they could provide the size I was looking for with yoke, but the minimum order was 500. Don't know if these were new production or if they were remans. Stands to reason they're doing something with all the used glass envelopes shipped over to them, as there's a thriving CRT TV market throughout the third world.

When I started up as a lowly Assistant Professor in 1971, I bought 2
2x2x5 mm sized low background IR detectors made of mercury doped germanium, for $600 apiece. In 1985 I decided to order two more as backups. The quote I got was $2,000,000. Doug McDonald |

Those Indian lCRTd display panels use electron arrows and deflection bows to fire neon lights at the frosted screen through a scanning disk...Rare priceless ancient Indian tech. Sadly no standards converters support this format.

Likely those ads are for old stock of picture tubes. However, I wouldn't doubt that there are a couple of companies somewhere in the orient that still make picture tubes. If there's a minimum order of 500, there's no way that's reman or nos, it would have to be new.
Also, we've had lcd picture tubes for years! It's called plasma screen. |

The real LOL was that two of those suppliers had pictures of CRTs with receiving tubes on the chassis!
Looks suspicious to me. I wonder if those pictures were ripped from VK. |

You're right! I didn't even notice that. In fact, the one picture looks like it might be a 21 inch roundie lol
