2006 Toshiba 14AF46 FST Pure CRT TV (pics)
Here's a rarity, probably one of the last tube TV's made during this time period. I got this for free from local classifieds.
It has a nice picture even for an SPC TV set (silver plastic crap) 14" flat screen Made in Thailand Comes with remote Rear component input and front RCA composite jacks Video: http://youtu.be/wLuP4Om37AM

Fairly rare to see component inputs on a small CRT set (or any CRT set for that matter), I have a small Sony that has them.
I passed on a Samsung 16:9 HD CRT set yesterday for $20, to heavy to deal with and cosmetically it was a mess, though it was working. |

Ideal if you have a Progressive Scan DVD player, most of the later ones were though, even the $29 cheapie Cyberhomes had Component out.

It's an Orion, they made the same set for JVC too. I had one, it was a good performer.

I have the 24" of that model. I bought mine new, after wanting a Sony Wega. These were in direct competition to the Sony's, and offered the SAME screen sizes, hence the weird 24" model. I had a really small area to put it, so it worked out perfect for me.
FANTASTIC picture, but yes.. I was shocked to find out it wasn't a Toshiba, but an outsourced Orion. Even has an Orion label on the tube. |

Yes, they're very nice performers, not to mention fairly nice looking for such a recent design. My mom owns the identical TV, which now sits in her closet as I eventually upgraded her to the 20" version of that set, the model 20AF46C. Pic taken just after I got it.

My wife has a 20 inch version with DVD and VHS in her sewing room. I think we got it in 2004. It has slight vertical fold-over when first turned on, but does not get a lot of use these days as she now has a 32 inch flat screen with built in DVD player on the other side of the room. Great when she wants to watch two football games at once.
Who knows, it could still outlast the cheapo RCA combo LED/LCD set! jr |

Here's my 24". It doesn't see a lot of use now. It's in the basement as a "workout" tv, so I guess it sees NO use at all. HAHA

I still own and use both the 20" and 24" versions of that set. Wanted to get the 27" version too, but I had to settle on a lower line Toshiba 27" with the speakers on the bottom, rather than the sides, in order to fit into my entertainment center. I gave Toshiba a lot of business in 2004! At the time, I was buying Toshiba exclusively, as I felt it was a better product for the money than Sony.

Toshiba sold a ton of the Orion ( Emerson) sets most combos.
The pix was excellent & was well built. Down side was physicaly it was a real dog to work on. Add to that the manuals were PDF & near unusable. Took so much longer to find your way around that you would lose your shirt. We ended up sending them to a Toshiba ASC. They would check for simple problems then est. it for a board that was too much $$ and/or NLA. Almost all we did had the power supply taken out by a surge. Some you got lucky & just needed the FET but others were a real pain with multiple bad semis. Most others had DVD or VCR troubles & we just sold them an add on unit. 73 Zeno |

I was able to actually SELL my 24" Toshiba last night. A "gamer" who has a ton of old video game consoles and doesn't like how they look on a flat-screen jumped all over it.
I think he liked the compact size and that it had a ton of RCA inputs. I was glad it will see use. I didn't wanna give it away ( as I know a scrapper would junk it) Plus.. I bought it new. I found the receipt for it at it was 349.99 in 2004. |
