oh oh.. isn't that the bad chassis that had TONS of tuner ground/eeprom issues?

I used to see that a lot.....
The EEPROM may have been zapped by the bad grounds in the tuner. There is a fix that sometimes works, as long as the rest of the TV is working.
FIX THE BAD GROUND CONNECTIONS FIRST! Then this may work to restore the audio........ 1. Unplug the TV from the AC outlet 2. Unsolder PIN 8 of the EEPROM 3. Use a sharp probe to short PIN 8 of the IC to the solder pad. 4. Plug the set in and turn on the power 5. Remove the probe. This will disconnect pin 8 from the set.....yes, while the TV is powered up. Fun, huh? 6. Use the menu buttons as usual, and find speaker ON/OFF, and turn the speakers back on. NOTE: The menu us different than usual, because pin 8 is floating. Speaker ON/OFF is often not in the customer menu on these sets 7. Unplug the TV and Resolder PIN 8 of the EEPROM. 8. Say a prayer and give it a try Do this carefully, as you will have the board upside down and fully powered up, with all of those power and sweep connections staring right at you while you are trying to push menu buttons. Good luck! |

If you replace the Eeprom you must copy all values down and save them on paper. That was RCA's disaster chassis but it made us all alot of money. LOL
