Thanks for the link to the history.

Thinking I may buy a dead one and replace the motor. A seller I ran across has German-made motors for about $50.... something to think about.

Got one! Found one in cosmetically very good and running condition locally just 2 miles from my house, $40 cash. A Craig's List find.

No trace of any radiation. The test patch on the side of my '62 Geiger counter will still peg the meter. Looks like the paint was removed, no trace of any.

Yeah, I sent an email to buy a motor and he apparently hasn't updated the website in a while. Prices are way up from those shown. I would have bought one at the old price he has listed.

Before I invest much money, I need to take it further apart and inspect the two bearing points the glass moves on, see how worn out those are. Read more recent ones have nylon there that you can get replacement pads to replace. I would think Teflon would be even better. And inspect the glass to ring glue and ring teeth.

My first repair: I took the dial pointer mechanism apart last night to free up the hour hand weight movement, it was sticky and should move freely. The hour hand was partially sticking with the glass movement example at 9:30 hour hand pointing to the 10 mark rather than being in-between 9 and 10 marks. Now the hour hand tracks along exactly as it should. Used some of my old Freon TF to clean the parts.
