Got my new TV stand all setup.

I think it looks nice, for some reason I actually like the look and color..

I like the color, too. Very handy piece of furniture. Did you finish it/paint it or buy it that way?

A couple. I have the old hitachi, a unisonic portable, and a small tg&y.

But for my bedroom this is the only one I use.

That stand looks great; I like the looks of it. The doors look like the ones on either side of the CRT of an old, long, heavy RCA console TV-stereo-AM/FM radio from the '60s one of my relatives had, before he retrofitted it with a modern color portable when the original TV chassis quit.

When you have a lot of video gear (DVD, cable box, DVR, etc.) in addition to the TV, a stand is the best way to go; makes things look a lot neater, and you can hide the cables too. I think I mentioned in another post that I converted a small utility cart to a video stand some time ago. Mine holds the TV (19" Insignia flat screen) on top, a 12-year-old Panasonic VCR on the lower shelf just below the flat screen, and, on the very lowest shelf, an LG Blu-ray player. All controlled by a GE (Jasco) 4-function universal remote. I like the looks of my setup as well. This is probably as close to a console setup as I'll ever get in my apartment; trying to fit a full-size entertainment center TV in here would be nearly impossible. Those big entertainment center consoles of the '50s-'70s were good, no doubt, with good pictures and wonderful stereo sound, but anyone with one of these had to have a rather large living room in which to put it. Case in point: a fancy Magnavox 3-way console that was, and may still be, on eBay. That unit is in a floor-to-ceiling cabinet, seven feet tall (!), and probably weighs 300 pounds if not more. No wonder the seller offers only local, on-site pickup--I shudder to think of the shipping charges if this thing were to be shipped more than a few miles. Across country or coast to coast? Again, I hate to think (gasp! ) of the shipping charges.

BTW, is that Hitachi 13" portable with the hybrid retrofit chassis you gave your sister still working? Last I remember you mentioning it, the set had some issues, among them a weak CRT, but it was apparently working well enough that she could play her video games on it and watch her favorite shows.

The hitachi still works, but it's developed a sound problem also now. Both chassis same thing, I think the volume knob is flakey.. It basically fades out and back constantly..
