1965/66 Zenith Console Stereo
Have any of you seen the 1966 Doris Day movie, "The Glass Bottom Boat"?
About halfway through the movie, Doris is doing a scene at the house of the character played by Rod Taylor. There is a beautiful Zenith Console stereo in the home, that Doris puts a record on. I would sure like to find one of these, it is one of the most beautiful consoles I have seen. Would any of you recognize the model? I'll try to get a screen shot of it and attach it, soon. Barry |

It is a top of the Line Zenith, X960 series, I believe the one in the movie
was a X964, The Vienne. |

Might also have been a X962, the Milano, I haven't seen the movie in years
and just going by memory, definitely a 960 series. |

mediterranean style
The stereo looks to me like what one would call a "Mediterranean" style of furniture. I did find a picture of the X964 online, and I believe you are right that the one in the movie must be the X962, as the 964 looked almost like a "French Provincial"
Is there a link somewhere to a Zenith brochure for this X960 series? I have been hunting online but haven't been able to come up with anything yet. Thanks. Barry |
