1929 RCA Radiola 18 Tube Radio

ran across this on craigslist, http://seattle.craigslist.org/ele/118223725.html. looks pretty cool to me but i have no idea if its anything special.

Yep, that looks in better shape than the one I've back at my parents' place. Can't really tell from the pictures if it still has the lamp hood over the dial (they fall off quite easily), though.

Overall, nice old radio for the vintage and very heftily made. Looks like only one of those tubes are of the proper vintage, so it's evidently been maintained (mine has all the old balloon type tubes).

If I remember correctly, the circuit is fairly simple, so this would also make for a good learning experience in recapping circuits.

As long as there is no cone damage to the speaker
grab it. Like mentioned in the last post only one of the
original UX prefix tubes is left. Its the one thats marked off in the pix.

This is a great old radio. I have the Brunswick version. You are lucky to find it with the matching speaker. Looking at the picture I can see the lamp cover is in place. Even if it weren't, www.tubesandmore.com has them.
