Hello, and Thanks...
I have been 'lurking' on this site for a while and have decided it was time to reveal myself. I've completed the restoration of this Motorola VT71, with a very satisfactory result, thanks in large part to the posts of the fine folks of this forum (I watched banderson's videos at least twice). This set also sports a 'reactive' ballast, the benefits of which are reduction of heat dissipation and elimination of the start-up surge to the filaments. I plan to momentarily post details of this device in the 'early tv' forum.
This project for me has a significant nostalgia factor, because as a gradeschooler in the early 50s I purchased an identical set for $20 saved doing odd jobs, much to the chagrin of my parents. Thanks again Last edited by polyphase; 11-26-2010 at 04:23 PM. |
