A quick hijack back to the 1962 portable. I have an SP30, which is the three channel portable (I use the word "portable" loosely, it weighs over 50 pounds) with built in "Vibrosonic" spring reverb. It has seven tubes, one 6BM8 each for the left and right channels, two 6BM8s for the center channel, two 12AX7s, one for the input amplifier and one for the reverb amplifier, and the 6CA4 rectifier.

That thing is a beast! Probably bests my Admiral 2-suitcase (1 is the speakers) stereo player. It only has single 2 ended 6BQ6 amps with IIRC 2 12AX7 driving.

Thanks for the info... the earlier claim of 6 6BM8s had me scratching my head.

These are beautiful consoles, I have a '62 in the same Declaration series Drexel cabinet. I also had an issue with the record player. Took me all day to figure out what was wrong, somebody had forced it in the past and bent the little cam piece that is on the main gear.

Good thing those are not the similar (beam pentode-triode) but uber-rare 6GW8's

Adam, If you're in driving distance of V-M near Detroit, just go exchange that wheel for a rebuilt. I think most changer issues will go away.
