Whats on the Board or the Schematic
I was going to re-cap my Pioneer SX-950 and while peeking at the Equalizer Amp Assembly (AWF-011) I had noticed 1 bulged cap and 2 others that were not the value I was looking at in the schematic, C-7 is supposed to be 330uF/6.8V and C-8 is supposed to be 330uF/6.8V and they were both 470uf/6.3V and then the one with the bulge is supposed to be 220uf/25V and it is 330uf/63V.
I guess my question is do I replace with the schematic values or the ones on the board? Would this cause my speaker protect relay to shunt the audio when I go to try turn it up? Also is there any way of finding out if these are updated values that came out after the SM was printed, Any help would be appreciated also if there is another SM around to be downloaded as the one on the data page is not clear at all when you download it and you can't read it. Thanks, Kidd |

Are you using Sams or the original manufacturer's schematic. Often Sams does not use the same component designations as the manufacturer. If the component designations are on the PC board, it compounds the confusion. Sometimes values change do to engineering notices or production change.
Either way, if a unit worked at one time and simply failed, no bungled repairs, you are usually safe replacing with the same value as you take out. |

I can't believe it would matter which capacitor was used.

I had downloaded the original manual and it was for my SX-950 not very clear and hard to read but was for this unit.

Just an FYI - you might want to also post this over on the sister site, AudioKarma. There is a "DIY section for questions like this with a much bigger audience of folks that either have, or have worked on a SX-950.
Over on Audiokarma, a search of Pioneer SX-950 yields 729 posts. Good luck with the recap. My SX-850 is a gem! Cheers,
