Any info on this Horn Speaker?

Picked up this Horn Speaker Radio stand locally a few days ago. I've never seen one before. No manufacture markings inside or out. Anyone know who might have made this? Not sure what I'm going to do with it but had to buy it because it's looks unusual and is an interesting early speaker. I'm guessing it's pre 1928 before electro-dynamic speakers came out and made the horn speakers obsolete.

Looks like ceramic or plaster horn? Be careful.

The wires appears to be pinched between speaker and the horn, better take care of that.

Oh, how is this horn secured into this furniture?

Cheers, Wizard

Horn is secured with 2 crude pieces of wood on the bottom opening To keep it from falling out of the bottom. No other padding, fastners, etc.. Appears to be plaster.

That's really interesting, not home made, never seen one either. The style of the little bench is very mid 1920's with the shape of the piece and the decorative appliqués. Can't quite tell from the pictures but the appliqués appear to have an oriental theme? That would go with the trapezoidal shape of the cabinet, all popular then. The finish should be preserved and could be carefully touched up by someone experienced in that. You might query over on ARF on the Antique Radio Discussions section.

That is just a fascinating little speaker. I ran across the following article from a 1927 Popular Mechanics which may give some insight into how it was created.

Until I saw this, I could not figure out how one would cast it. Kinda tempted to try it.
