Polaraman's start to the new year!

Well they are not color sets but they are finds.

The Maggie is a 24in CRT. I now have a 21",24" and a 27" sets.

The Admiral at the top was a gift from a TV shop that just closed 1/2 block from me. That is 3 closed shops in the last 6 months. It was his families first Tv as a kid.

On the left is a Meteor record player/Am radio. It was sold through Sears. I collect old funky console record players also. I have the chassis pulled and am working on it. Five .047 caps and a can. It may take months to complete that!!!!

There was a 1978 RCA Solid State Color Trak console for sale also. It was the kind with a swivel base. I thought about getting it. Thought to ask here first to see if it was a good set. I would rather it be a tube set.

I am going Tv hunting again tomorrow!!!!

I think the 70's RCA XL-100's are good sets...I have a '73 25" and '74 Mural TV 19" that are in daily use at home. Only troubles I have had with these is a bad tripler in one, and one with bad solder joints on the circuit boards...have had some with weak CRT's. The weak crt's tend to be in the later 70's--early 80's models but these may just have been heavily used sets.
In the colortrak models there is a piston trimmer cap that sometimes gets out of whack and causes no color.

That Magnavox cabinet would not look out of place in the 70s. I've seen a few with this type of "lowboy" cabinet but not many. This pic brings to mind the house full of sets I came across once; most were like these. If this forum had existed then perhaps a dozen tv's could have been saved but I could only handle so many 21" consoles...

polaraman has spotted another prize! A tube zenith rectangular color set!!!Chassis 12A???) I am going back to pick it up tomorrow. Figures I would find a nice TV and not have my truck. Came across a 16" B/W Admiral set in Blonde today. I bought the same set a few weeks ago in dark wood. Did not need another of the same.

polaraman

Still hunting that elusive CT 100.
