The price is right, but it's 3200 miles from me.

I don't get the mentality of people like that. He almost seems happy to bring it to the dump, but still wants $50 for it.

Like somebody said on that site... just give it away to a thrift shop or something. Somebody with think it's worth $500 on eBay.

It always makes me cringe and sick to the stomach to hear someone thinking of tossing one of these. I hope someone rescues it before the deed is done. The Zenith roundie i got awhile back (Thanks to John posting about it being on Craigslist) was headed for the dump also if it wasnt picked up by that weekend. It would have been a shame too as it is near mint and playing when i got it. A few tubes and set-up got it playing like new.

I hate people who hold sets for "ransom" like this. If it's really going to the dump, then why ask someone to pay to take it off your hands?

Who wants it?

If anyone wants it I can pick it up
and ship it
or hold for pick up.

He's 20 miles from me
so let me know before it goes.

If he has already taken it to the dump
I can check there for it too.

I think his town has a recycling center so it may
not get trashed right away.

Let me know if I can help another AKer out
with it?

Cheers,
Barry

It's also a SC400 set. Should have 25MC33 chassis.

Yeah, I wanna barf too.

Captain Scary, if nobody here takes you up on it, and it's really free (and it really exists), you might want to try eBaying it. If not the whole thing, at least eBaying the CRT and all the tubes might be worth your time. Someone might need a flyback or a transformer too. Or the SC400 unit as a whole. Shame to part these things out, but better than running a bulldozer over it in the dirt.

Yeah, it is a shame, I'd consider taking it if it was close to me. Ir would be cool to watch the Olympics on it, sort of takes me back to the Jim McKay days of "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat."
