Ham radio/TV related observation
I wonder if someone involved with the set of Mannix, starring Mike Conners, was a ham?
On one episode recently there was an Eico 720 sitting on a shelf in Mannix's office, in another a Hallicrafters SR-2000 got some nice air time, including a very quick full screen shot of the front panel and then a few episodes later what appears to be a Collins 32-S1 gets shot! Given the lofty price on the SR-2000 I find it hard to believe it would have been purchased just to be a prop. Has anyone noticed any ham gear appearing in other TV shows? |

Other than "Last Man Standing"... none come to mind.

I have seen a few rigs & references to the hobby in the films.
dont remember the name or plot but abt 25 yrs ago there was a film about a firefighter & heavily based on his ham rig. Even used real style calls. IIRC it was a minor hit & I would like to see it agn. After that I dont know because I have probably only seen 20 current movies in the last 25 yrs. You will find my dial on TCM for real movies. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |

I believe the movie you're thinking of is frequency.
Saw it when it was new. Story was too far away from reality for me, and the play became too confusing toward the end. |

My favorite line from that movie: "I've been CQing you all day" lol. The ham terminology in this movie was not even close to being correct. One would think if one were going to write a movie revolving around ham radio they would have at least bothered to learn enough about the subject not to use non-nonsensical phrases.
