Zenith Space Commnd Systm 3

While out at Goodwill I came across this Zenith. I almost passed by it, without giving it a second notice. I decided I better check it out. Turns out it originally had a phone plug and you could use it as a phone. The phone cord had been cut at sometime prior and the remote control is missing. Anyways, for the price I couldn't pass it up.

Hmm, I didn't know Space Phone was in table top models. I thought that was just for consoles. I've seen one or two consoles with it, but never a table top set.

I've got a wood tabletop with it.....I need to get back to repairing that one.

Very nice sets. SM1961W IIRC. I had the wood pecan
version. Set also has the auto on/off feature so if you look
for a remote look for those buttons on it. Here is
what it used. This ones as is but if you can find the part number
124-### you can search for a NOS unit.

I would think that if you wanted to use the space phone function again on this tv that you could probably pretty easily replace the old cut phone cable with a new one...

those sets had a fine picture.i had 3 to 4 of them, without the space phone option.they were very, very good looking sets but all of them eventually lost the green gun in the crt.a light hit would give you some time.i like these anyway.love to find another

If that set has light blue (almost white) paint specks on the back, I know where it came from - cut/torn phone cord and all. My Dad had one in his garage for 2-3 years - it had an intermittently shorting CRT (Heater-Cathode short, causing a greenish raster with retrace lines every two or three minutes), so the customer said junk it, but dad kept it to "listen to noise" while restoring his old radios. Once they turned off analog, he got rid of it....not sure how. I studied your picture to look at the base of the set, it's the same model set.

As to space phone, there was one console we serviced in a customer's home - and they had a dog. Every time the phone was answered through the TV, the dog went to the TV and started panting......callers didn't know what to think.....
