New project Sony KV-1951

Hi all,

While waiting on a few more parts for the 12" Philco roundie I decided to tackle another set.

Its a 1976 Sony KV-1951. A middle of the road 19" Trinitron with "econoquick" and "Lumisponder".

It was my main set for many years, I had purchased it for something like $5 at a thrift store. I stopped using it and could not remember why, i just put it into the attic.

Carted it down put it on the work bench, hooked it to the LaserDisc player and turned it on, major pincushion issue. Took a look at the sams and started looking for bad caps. Found a bas 1k mdf 35v on the deflection board near the "Pin amp" area.

Decided to recap the entire sweep board as I had most of the caps already form a tape recorder rebuild that did not happen. The remaining caps will be ordered today.

Here are a few picts,

Mpatoray-

That CRT looks nice and strong. Sony, pincushion problems, bad electrolytics... I have fixed a lot of those.

Where there any "production changes" for this set to improve performance?

I know there are quite a few i have to put into the Philco.

Thanks,

Matt
