What tv is this?

Well, I'm looking at this: https://vimeo.com/128791019
among the thing that I've noticed in the documentary was that some one had on it's a desk a portable transitors (hope I'm right and it's not a tube or hybrid one) tv set, which having on the desk was something in 1965. At 11:28 we can see the front of it. I wonder, which brand and model is.

I know it's black and white - a color one would have had been probably larger. "G.E." American.

Its a GE all tube set. At the time it was the cheapest set you could buy.
Strange sets. They could last forever BUT just barely worked. When we fixed
them we only got them to function again, not a full repair like
a well built set would get.
I do NOT miss working on them

The first model, that used the two circuit boards was nasty. The thing used a shrink-fit plastic on the CRT, that was used as implosion protection that would turn yellow and didn't even have a CRT socket. It had individual pins that connect to the CRT.
The newer model that used one PC board, wasn't as bad.
I scrapped the older model. but I used the fancy handle on a box fan.

My late mom had a GE 12 inch set like the one in the ebay photo here.I think my late dad bought it from the local Dept store.

I cant remember what I did with it years ago. Surprisingly she got alot of years out of it .GE was a fan of their compactron tubes.

These portable sets were sold in Germany, too.
They were sold under Kuba/Imperial (which was later in US hands)
and Graetz.
The front with knobs will be different, but the back is the same.
It works with PY 81/PL 81 (HV) and there is asbestos in it to save
the line transformer.

Happy weekend,
TV-Collector

This set is the tube era, PortaColor TV from GE. The cheapest, smallest screen Color TV available in 1965, as in under $200 or not much more new, when most color TV sets were $450-$500 at cheapest. Not the best picture, but they were durable and reliable, and many still work.
