Why in the '70's and '80's they stoped manufacturing tv using USA Made components?

Why in the '70's and '80's they stoped manufacturing tv using USA Made components?
I've read in the past around here that they made the components in Mexico.
Later they just simply assambled tv sets using compoments Made in Asia?

The reasons are cost, cost & cost.
Big guys like Zenith & RCA still used mostly US parts. Zenith built
most there own CRT's, flybacks, small transformers, tuners & other
odds & ends. Small parts were more of a mix.

Here is a old documentary on the history of the downfall of the American television industry. It was made in 1992 by "American" National Public Television. The youtuber is our famous Doug drh4683 .

While American firms favored American parts we never had hangups using foreign parts. A number of American makers bought german power resistors during the Korean war due to the war causing parts shortages*.

During the 60's some makers sourced European and or Japanese signal tubes.

American CRT plants ran into the 90's, and domestic small parts making operations still exist.

*At that time we were also using American made resistors that had the right value for the circuit but the wrong color code labeled (ie off tolerance/factory seconds).

Foreign parts steadily got cheaper over the years, really starting in the 70s.

Our government was extremely guilty of negligence. We let it happen by not being vigilant. There are still some foreign TV's made here but what's the difference?
