Zenith Space Command vintage remote with zoom feature

Picked this up 2 days ago for $2. Figured sooner or later i'll need it since I'm always finding old sets. I'm curious though as to what tv this goes to. Doesn't look infrared either. I used a remote similar to this many years ago on a 79 mongomery ward 19".

It's ultrasonic all right, a Space Command 1000. Not sure how many sets it goes with. VK member Robb got one for a 1977 Chromacolor II 25" screen console. Chances are you'll need an ultrasonic Space Command set to find out if it works; that or special equipment that can pick up on the frequencies. Maybe even aim it at a dog and press a button, should drive 'em nuts. I have quite a large ultrasonic hand unit collection, also awaiting the TVs that they go with. My first Space Command remote, a battery ultrasonic unit, I couldn't tell that it worked until I got my '73 Chromacolor. Only three of the buttons work with that set though, and not as labeled.

BTW, this particular model is designed to be modded for Space Command receiver alignment.

Zoom came on most G-H & J line ( '76-'78 ) 19' & 25"
remote sets IIRC. All are ultrasonic. The functions are
standardized so interchangeable. If you put the unit
to your ear some folks can hear a screech but not me.
Only other test is a working set or a remote mike & scope.
All sets with the option will have a "ZOOM" light on the
control panel if you want to find one. Your unit is the first
style, later they had a smaller version.
BTW I may be off a year, was a long time ago

One of mine, probably from the System 3 era as it lacks the tri-color logo. I have another with the same button arrangement but different label, including the logo. There's another with a single volume button and zoom right next to it that I'm yet to find and add to my stash.

I remember my 79 having one and i could hear it if i put it close to my ear. Didn't have to be real close either to hear it. Always thought it was the coolest thing cause i was always used to infrared. Can't wait to get another set like that.

I can hear my Magnavox Touch-Tune remotes no problem. Lots of different notes to be heard with the presence of a RAT keypad as well.
