That's nice when something like that abused and neglected radio can be brought back to new condition!
I have the same X323 like yours and had to do a little work to the cabinet. Someone used it in a kitchen or somewhere near a stove as the top was nasty with all that hardened grease. A little fine steel wool and thinner brought it back though.
As far as cosmetic differences between the two, the x has an enclosed dial and the z has the dial exposed with no plastic over it.
