I hope somebody buys that 621 to restore, not just for parts.
The cabinet isn't half as bad as it looks at first glance. Not broken up, all the parts are there. Strip, smooth out some boo-boos, refinish, and you're good to go. The local auto glass shop can make you a new safety glass. Same with the chassis. Rust can be removed. I don't see any important bits missing. (Isn't that part of the h-v cage sitting off to the side?) The CRT may be dead, but replacements can be found. Unless mice ate some unobtanium piece not shown in these photos, I don't see why it couldn't be brought back to life rather than parted out. Just my $0.02 . . . Phil Nelson |

I can't believe that 621-TS is up to $218.50, with 2 days left on the auction. This is PLUS $50 shipping and destruction. "One mans trash" if you will. I love old TVs and I've seen a lot of NICE stuff go for a whole lot less. I know 621's are desirable but personally I would rather leave a set with a rusty chassis, rhodent chewed capacitor cans, and a crt that is removed for some reason alone. Yeah, you can fix anything if you want to, or can afford it.
I must say that ion trap magnet was very interesting. An electromagnet I suppose. Now that MIGHTY Dumont Eric found is my kind of ad. I think it is $20 with no bids so far. This set looks like it is on a showroom floor. For my money and taste I would rather have this one Dumont than 10 of that 621. Sure wish I lived near Michigan!! That beauty would be mine. A slow warm may produce a plug and play 50 year old set. If not this would be a fun restore... |

B/W combo in Australia!
You could almost float this one over to the states. Wonder what shipping would be from Australia?

That Stromberg is a rare one indeed. The only other instance I've witnessed of that model is another collector here in san diego who owns one. He's slowly rebuilding the chassis, and it was still working even after 50 something years. It is a very unique Chinese styling with a carved front.
If the fly, CRT, and power supply transformer are good, its definitely a set worth perusing at that price if the cabinet is in good condition.
