Motorola 7VT-5B

Sooner or later I will have to pick up this set that I bought from a friend, it is a long 700 km trip, I will go either by bus or by car. Should I disconnect the CRT for transport?

At the very least, inspect the CRT and see if it is secure. Motorola used a really cheap mounting system where there is a clamp support on the neck and a foam gasket around the face. Often that gasket deteriorates leaving only the neck supported.

Rough handling could cause it to break as it did when I received this similar model VT71.

Yours came by mail or transport company? You didn't pick it up in person?

It came by mail. It was too far away to pick up in person.

Interesting that most if the funnel and face are intact... I would have guessed that the box would have been filled with small pieces of glass.
