Sony GV-200 Video Walkman questions

Hello all!

I’ve recently begun restoring a Sony GV-200 video Walkman and I’ve run into some roadblocks.

I bought the unit in 2015, with power applied it would display a “BATTERY DOWN” message under all conditions and shut off after 5-8 seconds.

I took the unit out of storage recently, powered it on, and the “BATTERY DOWN” issue disappeared.

I decided to replace all SMD electrolytic capacitors last week.

The “BATTERY DOWN” message has returned and the unit will not stay powered on.

Has anyone here successfully remedied this sort of issue with a GV?

I am currently trying to locate a service manual in order to check the proper voltages at various ICs to trace the problem.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

-Jeff
