1980s Curtis Mathes & RCA consoles
Here are a couple of consoles that were left over from an estate sale and if all goes well, I'll be picking them up either Tuesday or Wednesday morning. The lady having the sale told me that not one person even looked at them. These are really too new for my interest and they probably won't stay around long-term, but if I don't take them, the next ones may be of interest and she won't offer them to me.
The first one looks like a late '80s Curtis Mathes. I'm not a fan of CM TVs, but this one looks like it might be a re-badged RCA with the 27" square-corner tube and maybe a CTC140 chassis. If it is a 140, it will be stereo and have A/V inputs. The other one is definitely an RCA XL100 from probably about '84-'85, and probably has a CTC120 chassis. On those, I've replaced lots of bad filter capacitors, resoldered lots of bad connections inside the tuner, and have adjusted or replaced the 3.58 MHz trimmer. The jugs usually held up in these, but when a weak one was encountered, they usually would not take a hit.

The CM definintely looks like a CTC 140 and I think you're also right on the RCA being about 1984. John |
