This complete Grundig Set is made in Germany, including the SAT Receiver and the VCR. (Grundig and Philips were normally the only ones who produced VCRs in Germany/Austria). I repaired some of this units. Normally they had just bad soldering connections or dried out Electrolytics.
You can find Siemens TVs or Blaupunkt TVs which were rebranded Grundig TVs with grundig chassis. I have never seen that japanese brands got rebranded Grundig TVs. By the way, the Mitsubishi TV has the same Display as the Grundig, but in the 80s the big LED Modules were very popular and a lot of companys used them. |

Hi Visual,
unfortunally, i never changed a CPU on that VCR. My Grundig VCRs had issuses with the backup battery wich was a common failure on them (they went "crazy" when the battery was defective). Bad caps and mecanical problems as worn out belts. Here is an ad for a VS 220 for 15 Euro (unfortunally in german) http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeige...93991-175-6804 Maybe the seller will ship it to you. |

I used to have a Grundig Monolith 27-inch that was most definitely made by Panasonic. The remote and OSD were identical to those of Panasonic TVs and it was full of Matsushita components. It was in a heavy, black particle-board case with the controls hidden behind a flip-up door below the screen. It was OSD-only, no channel number LEDs or VFD as in the one pictured above. I would guess that this was a US-market-specific model and the Grundigs sold in Europe were really made by Grundig.

I found it in an ad flyer from April 1989! The model number is M-27. The TV in the picture is the same one I had. I did Google searches (web, groups and books) and could not find any references to this television set, so it must have been pretty rare.
